Litér on Lake Balaton combines an Early Gothic church, a versatile public park, local festivals and cycling projects. Thus, different themes stand side by side in the town: sacred architecture and remembrance culture, public facilities, regional events, as well as routes between Litér and the places mentioned.

Reformed Church and Remembrance Culture

The Reformed Church of Litér was built in the 13th century in the Early Gothic style. A particular detail is the southern portal from the 13th century. It is considered the first Hungarian example of a portal with column figures developed in Chartres. This means that attention is directed not only to the church building as a whole, but also to a clearly defined architectural element.

The church can be visited year-round by prior appointment. This information is directly relevant when planning a cultural visit, as visiting the church requires an appointment in advance. For those interested in culture, the memory of Bódi Mária Magdolna is also part of Litér’s history. She died in Litér on 23 March 1945 as a martyr for Christ.

A memorial event on 13 April led to a mass in the courtyard of the Reformed school. The crowd then moved to the grave of Bódi Mária Magdolna to pray together. During the memorial event, the route led from the courtyard of the Reformed school to the grave of Bódi Mária Magdolna.

Public Park, Stage and Sports Facilities

The public park has an outdoor stage and an audience area. It also features a nationally unique cycle track illuminated by solar-powered LED lamps. The stage, audience area and track make the park a place where event and cycling themes come together spatially.

The artificial-turf football pitch is also part of the town’s public profile. The illuminated artificial-turf football pitch measures 20 × 40 metres and is located in the courtyard of the Litéri Református Általános Iskola.

Festivals and Regional Products

The Mogyorósi Napok takes place in July and is considered the most important event in the community life of Litér. The date places the festival within the summer event calendar. The Szent György Napi Birkafőző Verseny in Litér is associated with the May Festival. The two events therefore relate to different festivities in the local annual calendar.

Another facet is the farmers’ market. It offers buyers products from agricultural self-production.

Cycle Routes between Litér and the Surrounding Area

A cycle-route project envisaged cycle paths between Litér and Balatonfűzfő and between Litér and Szentkirályszabadja. The project was intended to cover a total of 13.7 kilometres. When planning a cycling tour, the planned route between the towns and the total length of 13.7 kilometres are relevant. Cycling in Litér is therefore present both in the public park and in the connections with the surrounding area.

Other destinations on Lake Balaton: Balatonfenyves, Paloznak, Vonyarcvashegy, Balatonkeresztur, Kötcse, Balatonfüzfö, Balatonszentgyörgy, Gyulakeszi.
