A distinctive place to stay in town is the guesthouse at the Bél-Mátyás Visitor Centre. The listed Baroque building is in the central part of Balatonkeresztur and is surrounded by a large, well-maintained park.
Cellar architecture and views of Lake Balaton
The Műemlék Pincesor comprises 22 old, locally protected cellars. They are considered preserved examples of vernacular architecture and give the town a distinctive cultural and historical character. The cellar area on Bokrosi-hegy also offers expansive views of Lake Balaton. Here, architecture and landscape come together: both the built heritage and the view of the lake may play a role in your travel decision, depending on your interests.
The Hamvas-Béla wine trail adds to this picture. It was established in 2017 at the joint initiative of the Facsiga estate and the Rubin winery and runs between Balatonkeresztur and Balatonberény.

Events at the Bél-Mátyás Visitor Centre can last half a day or a full day. If you’d like to include one in your travel plans, check what’s currently on offer in advance. Another cultural highlight is the Rabten Tashi Ling Magyar Tibeti Központ. Visitors can attend teachings by senior masters in person twice a year and gain insights into Buddhist wisdom. Visitors are welcomed from March 15 to October 15; check visiting dates before your trip.
