Fonyódi-erdő, Sípos-hegy, Várhegy and Kossuth-erdő form a locally significant protected natural area covering 19.52 hectares. Its protection aims to preserve the geological features as well as the valuable plant life and vegetation. The conservation effort therefore covers both geological and botanical natural values. There is a forest fitness trail on Sipos-hegy, with pleasant woodland paths. In Fonyod, the route to the lookout follows the hillside promenade facing Lake Balaton. Fácános-Palánkvár preserves the remains of a palisade fort within Fonyod, one that was tested in numerous battles. The history and layout of the site provide different points of interest: the fort remains offer an archaeological and historical connection, while the arrangement of the two areas gives the site a clear layout.
