Church and Architectural History

The east-facing church has an elongated, flat-ended choir that is narrower than the nave. It also has a west tower, a sacristy at the northeast corner and a southern entrance porch. On the north side of the nave is the Szent-András Chapel, which ends in a polygonal apse and is aligned north to south. The nave, choir and chapel can thus be viewed as distinct parts of the complex.

A chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary is recorded in 1339 in Alsódörögd, now Taliándörögd; a stone church is mentioned there in 1347. Another architectural point of interest is the Roman Catholic rectory at Kossuth utca 30. It is L-shaped and late Baroque in style. Together, the church and rectory offer two distinct architectural features to help culture-minded visitors orient themselves.

Tik-hegy and Cycling

Tik-hegy, which is 323 metres high, lies in the western part of the Dörögd Basin and provides shade for Taliándörögd. It adds a distinct landscape feature to the village’s architectural attractions.

A 29-kilometre cycling tour starts in Kapolcs, passes through Taliándörögd, Öcs, Pula, Nagyvázsony and Vigántpetend, then returns to Kapolcs. Culture and Festival

At Művészetek Völgye 2026, held from 24 July to 2 August, the LéleKzet Református Udvar in Taliándörögd offered collaborative art activities and an exhibition by textile artist Richter Sára. The programme also included performances by, among others, Gryllus testvérek, Zsongom, Rajkai Zoltán, Balla Gergely, Vecsei H. Miklós and the Cimbali Band with Herczku Ágnes. The courtyard has been part of the festival for more than two decades. Boat trips are available in the Tapolcai-tavasbarlang, which also has the guided exhibition “Csodálatos karszt” (“Wonderful Karst”). Its inner face reveals the structure of a basalt volcano that was active about eight million years ago; at the viewpoint on the western edge of the quarry grounds, a panorama board helps visitors identify the surrounding hills. A rock garden displays characteristic rock types of Transdanubia. Badacsony combines hiking trails and panoramic views with formations known as basalt organ pipes; grapes for Badacsony wine are grown on its slopes. These attractions add geology, hiking and wine to the options for a stay, while Taliándörögd’s own attractions centre on its church, festival, landscape and cycling route.
